Nien (Hangul: 니엔; Mandarin: 念) is a Taiwanese-Vietnamese idol under MODHAUS and the thirteenth revealed member of tripleS. She was revealed as S13 on March 20, 2023.
Nien made her debut in tripleS' third sub-unit, LOVElution with the mini album, MUHAN, and the title track, “Girls' Capitalism”, on August 17, 2023.
She is a member of the sub-units, LOVElution, Aria and Visionary Vision.
History[]
Early life[]
Nien was born as Hsü Nien-tz'u (許念慈) on June 2, 2003 in Taipei, Taiwan. She most likely moved to South Korea to pursue an idol career in late 2020 or early 2021. Before leaving Taiwan, she participated in a beauty contest in 2019 and attended Juang Jing Vocational High School's department of Performing Arts, from which she graduated in 2020.[2]
2021: Girls Planet 999[]
On July 7, Nien was confirmed as a contestant on the Mnet girl group survival show, Girls Planet 999, through the show's prologue trailer.[3] Her official profile was then released on July 18.[4]
Nien performed OH MY GIRL's "Dolphin" for the Planet Demo Stage, IZ*ONE's "FIESTA" for the Connect Mission and BLACKPINK & Selena Gomez's "Ice Cream" for the Combination Mission. Nien was eliminated on episode 8 during the second round of eliminations which aired on September 24. It is assumed she left FNC Entertainment mid to late 2022.
2023: Reveal, Debut, <Authentic> in U.S.A & Aria preparations[]
On March 17, S13's teaser drop was released. Three days later on March 20, Nien was revealed as tripleS' thirteenth member through her introductory video teaser. She officially moved into the HAUS on March 24, becoming roommates with NaKyoung and YuBin.
On April 28, Nien was determined as the seventh member of tripleS' third sub-unit, LOVElution, through the Two Big WAVes Grand Gravity.
On August 17, she made her official debut with LOVElution and their mini album, MUHAN, with the title track, “Girls' Capitalism”. From September 24 to October 14, LOVElution completed the U.S.A leg of tripleS' first world tour, <Authentic>.
On November 24, Nien was selected as one of the members of the ballad unit through the Ballad Dimension Grand Gravity.
2024: Aria, <Authentic> in Seoul, ASSEMBLE24 & Visionary Vision[]
On January 15, Nien debuted in her second and tripleS' sixth overall sub-unit, Aria, with their first single album, Structure of Sadness, and the title track, “Door”.
Between February 3-4, she participated in the Seoul leg of tripleS' first world tour, <Authentic>, alongside the first twenty revealed members of the group.
On May 8, Nien made her comeback with tripleS' first studio album, ASSEMBLE24, and the title, “Girls Never Die”.
On June 18, Nien was determined as a member of the dance focused sub-unit, Visionary Vision, through the Visionary Vision Grand Gravity.
